Measurement Phase
We measure multidimensional Wellness using a questionnaire
program at TheQ.ca. First, before we do that, we ask people to guess at their future scores in order to get a
profile as to where their mind set is at and how far off from real scores they are at with their thinking. The
Guessing Form is taken only one time. Real scores are generated at TheQ.ca. When we get TheQ data back we will have
a profile that includes 38 scores 35 of which are from 0 to 100% with 100% being optimal health. All scores will be
generated based on what a person is doing in their life as it relates to the science of optimal health. This data
will be taken from the answers people give on the first part of the questionnaire at TheQ.ca. These two processes
comprises the measurement phase.
Assess, Identify, Prioritize
Our computer algorithm performs the assessment,
identifying and prioritizing of Action Plan items based on the answers people give at TheQ.ca.
Workshop Phase
From scores on TheQ we offer Chronic Disease Prevention Strategies (CDPS) Workshops to help people with several things including weight loss, healthy meal planning, and
effective exercise for both optimal health and weight loss. We will be looking at the action plan selected for
people by the program algorithm for the nutrition pillar and the exercise pillar as one focus of the Chronic
Disease Prevention Strategies Workshops. We will discuss the action plan items associated with the other three
pillars, spinal health, rest relaxation and attitude and perspective, as people feel necessary.
Although we recognize that wellness is multidimensional, our
goal will be to normalize weight and exercise, aligning them with science. We will be looking at permanent meal
plan corrections and exercise corrections to normalize and stabilize weight and fitness. We establish weight-loss
goals according to individual needs using 1 pound a week of weight-loss as a guide until normalization occurs,
after which a maintenance program will be instituted. We will discuss all Five Healthy Habits in
workshops.
Five Healthy Habits
Not smoking
Having a body mass index between 18.5 and
25
Taking at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise a
day
Having no more than one 150ml glass of wine a day for women,
or two for men
Having a diet rich in items such as fruit and vegetables
while low in red meat and sugar
Men and women who have such healthy lives are 82% less
likely to die of heart disease and 65% less likely to die of cancer compared with those with the least healthy
lifestyles.
Timing
The Chronic Disease Prevention Strategies Workshop program
for an individual will last 12 months with measurement at TheQ.ca web site every three months. This will give us a
progress chart at the end of the year to assess how well people are doing. At the end of every three-month time
period we ask people to attend a public talk event, re-measure weight, hips and waist, and complete another
questionnaire at TheQ.ca. There will be a total of five questionnaire measurements in all to complete a one year
profile.
What We Expect to See
We expect to see permanent lifestyle changes at the end of
the year. However, we recognise that it takes two years to fully integrate major lifestyle changes so we will
continue to monitor people for another year.
Workshop Delivery
The first two hours of Chronic Disease Prevention Workshops
will occur at some point throughout the first three months at the client’s discretion. At the end of the first
three months, after people have completed their second questionnaire, and those results come back in, we will meet
at a Workshop evening meeting and discuss how people should proceed. The question is, can people continue to handle
improvements all on their own or, do they need more workshop time?
Dietary Modification
Our model for the dietary plan will be Dr. Ouellette's
Anti-Inflammatory Pain Relief Diet. There are two workbooks available for learning about this plan. They can be
purchased at a public talk event. At public talks they cost $19.99 CAD. Online they cost $19.99 USD + shipping
which I am told can be more than the book. Online there is an e-book version for each book that can be purchased
for $9.99 USD. We will also be looking at the Ketogenic Diet, and those protocols, as any fat burning diet that
brings about weight loss will generate Ketosis to some degree. That is because burning fat releases
Keton particles as part of the fat burning process. It cannot be avoided.
The Goals
At the beginning of the questionnaire on TheQ.ca web site,
people will be asked to select a series of goals. People let us know what concerns they have in this goals list,
however, people should try to focus goals into something that is achievable, realistic and important to them right
now. They shouldn’t just select everything as that would not be helpful. We know most people want everything as a
goal but, selecting important items that are important to this phase of the program is most helpful. There will be
an opportunity to change goals every three months on the next questionnaire.
What We Are Seeking
We are seeking chronic disease prevention strategies with
this program. We will have additional data and information in the Progress Chart to tweak our strategies as time
goes on.
Report of Findings
When people purchase a workshop after completing TheQ they
will receive a report of findings that is about 35 pages long. This Report of Findings is only available for free
in workshops as it is included in the workshop price. It can be purchased online outside the program for a fee.
People can read it over and get an explanation of what their scores mean and get some basic recommendations based
on the range that their scores fall into. This report helps people with the Self-Help aspect of the
program.
In the public setting people may not want to delve into all
of the issues they're having but, we should say a lot of the issues are common to a lot of people. The public talks
will be a time to discuss the workshops and help people troubleshoot issues they feel they want to bring up in that
setting. Personal issues can all be discussed one-on-one in separate private CDPS Workshops that people pay for
either, over the phone, or over texting.
